With Windstar the compass always reads 180° from ordinary. It is a position of the heart.

Nice, France

Our beginning port is a charming introduction to the spirit of the Cote d’Azur, with its casual affluence, flower-lined streets, flourishing markets, and interesting museums. Stroll along its wide sunny boulevards with lovely shady gardens and parks.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

This fairy-tale kingdom glitters with opulence and jet-set glamour, and the action centers around its famed casinos. Elsewhere in Monaco are the Prince’s Palace, from which the Grimaldi dynasty has ruled since 1297; the Cathedral where Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier; and the Rock of Monaco, where magnificent gardens cascade to the sea.

St. Tropez, France

Small but chic, St. Tropez is a lively town whose beaches are legendary, and twisting narrow streets open onto tiny squares and fountains. Great views can be had from the 16th century Citadel, but the most interesting views are from a chair in a sidewalk café – watching the fascinating, flirtatious French Riviera pass by.

Portofino, Italy

Portofino is considered by many yachtsmen to be the "world’s most beautiful small port". Tall cliffs rise steeply above the port, dotted with expensive villas and an imposing castle. This will be a beautiful introduction to the Italian zest for life, with its colorful waterfront cafes and shops.

Portovenere, Italy

Small colorful houses – some only three yards wide and as much as seven stories tall – climb steeply up the hillside, making this a fascinating small town to explore. From the ship, the steeple of the 12th century church of San Lorenzo can be seen, along with the simple Gothic church of San Pietro built on a promontory above the harbor. Also available from this port is a motorcoach transfer to nearby Florence, where you’ll have the day to explore that city’s fabulous art, architecture, and museums on your own.

Portoferraio, Italy

Gliding into the town of Portoferraio, you can see why Napoleon chose Elba for his exile; an island of pink granite, pine forests, and pristine beaches. The contrast of the Elba countryside – from its typical fishing villages and high mountain passes to its stylish summer resorts on the coast – are enchanting.

Bonifacio, France (Corsica)

Perched on chalk-white cliffs at the southern tip of rugged Corsica lies fortified Bonifacio, whose stone walls and drawbridges tells stories of its protected past. Explore the fortress and then hike the short, spectacular walk along the cliff line to the lighthouse, where majestic views across to Sardinia reward you along the way.

Rome, Italy

2,500 years of history are woven into the fabric of modern Rome. You can feel it in the glory of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, or as you wander small streets that open onto piazzas, fountains, and elegant courtyards. Famous treasures include the Colosseum, the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.
